This study aims to find out the problems in managing small classes and to reveal the English teacher's strategies in managing small classes. This research use a case study because in this case the number of students below the normal number in general or the normal number that has been determined. Interview and observation are used as data retrieval techniques. Then the data were analyzed using qualitative descriptive. Then the problems and the strategies are used by the teacher when managing small classes will be known. In the result of this research was found some problems. The problems that occur during learning activity that comes from the strategies of classroom management like:

 the teacher didn’t change the arrangement of chair
 there is no others wall decorations
 there is no other kind of learning organization
 passiveness of students, students who left behind in material mastery, some students have weak understanding, students do not talk more than teacher
 there is no different color of board marker, LCD and sound system
 the teacher not divide the group randomly based on students’ ability and the teacher do nothing when some students not focus on learning activity

In practice, teacher is able to overcome all of those problems by using his compassion and creativity.
