Abstract

Paving block is a composition of building materials made from a mixture of
cement, fine aggregate and water. The study analyzed strength of paving block using
sand of Serayu River compared to Widarapayung beach. The study aimed to determine
the compressive strength of paving block with fine aggregate material from Serayu
river Banyumas and widarapayung beach. The specimes collected were quadrilateral
(20x10x6cm) and hexagonal (20x17x6,5cm) consisting of 2 sampel from serayu river
sand and 2 samples for widarapayung beach sand and compressive strength test after
5 days with using conversion at 28 days concrete age. Thus , it can be drawn that the
average compressive strength of paving block in serayu river sand at 28 days for
quadrilateral was 23,05Mpa and hexagonal was 22,04 Mpa. While paving from
widarapayung beach obtained an average score which was worse, rectangular shape of
3,76 Mpa and hexagonal shape of 3.21 Mpa. The results proved that paving block
using sand from serayu river banyumas have a higher compressive compared to the
sand of widarapayung beach.
