The study aimed to describe mathematical literacy ability of students in SMA Negeri 1 Sokaraja in terms of linguistic intelligence through contextual questions on sequence material. The subjects of the study were students of XI grade MIPA 2 collected through purposive sampling technique. Students were grouped into 3 based on the results of the linguistic intelligence questionnaire, namely high, moderate, and low with 3 students each. Data analysis techniques applied qualitative research method which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Data collection method in this study implemented a test consisted of 3 description questions, each of which measured all indicators of mathematical literacy skills, interviews, and documentation. This study conducted a technical triangulation test as a data validation test. The results discovered that students with high linguistic intelligence were able to demonstrated mathematical literacy ability which fitted to all indicators of mathematical literacy ability. Students with moderate linguistic intelligence were able to demonstrate mathematical literacy ability by fulfilling an indicator of mathematical literacy ability namely mathematical concepts, facts, procedures, and reasoning in problems; while students with low linguistic intelligence had not demonstrated good literacy ability, since they could not fulfill all indicators of mathematical literacy ability.
