Abstract

Thinking ability on algebra is the ability of students in analyzing a
correlation that represent mathematical situation and changes in solving various
problem using symbol. This research aimed to describe students algebraic
thinking ability in terms of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning styles on
Linear Equation System of Two Variables. The research subject were taken from
8th graders of SMPN 2 Purbalingga, for respondent subject selected 3 students
from each learning style. Data were collected using test and interview. Technique
of data analysis using Miles and Huberman model that included data reduction,
data presentation, and conclusion. The result showed that students with visual
learning style had algebraic thinking ability that include generational and
transformational activities, student with auditory learning style had algebraic
thinking ability that include generational activity, while student with kinesthetic
learning style had algebraic thinking ability that include generational,
transformational, and global meta-level activities.
