Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out if bilingual stories is effective or not in teaching vocabulary. The study was done from 18th until 30th of April 2011 at MTS Nurul Ulum Pegiringan. The writer used experimental method which involved two classes, the experimental and control classes. Each class consisted of 22 students. The writer gave the experimental class a treatment by using bilingual stories. Compared to the control class, the teaching and learning process in the experimental class was more alive and resulted in better achievement that of the control class. In collecting the data, the writer used test in which the result was analyzed by using t-test to find out the effect of the treatment. Having analyzed the data, the writer found that there was a positive effect of teaching vocabulary using bilingual stories. It could be seen from the result of hypothesis testing that the t-value was higher than t-table (3.47>2.018). Having seen the result, the writer concluded that teaching vocabulary using bilingual stories was effective.
