This research is conducted to reveal the character of Katniss Everdeen as a hero as it is reflected in Suzanne Collins’ Mockingjay. This is the third series of Hunger Games that was released in 2010. The main character who becomes the object of the research is Katniss Everdeen, a teenage girl who becomes the face of rebellion.
To find the answer, the researcher applies the binary opposition theory by Claude Lévi-Strauss. In analyzing this study, writer uses qualitative descriptive method to describe the finding more broadly. The data is taken from the third novel of The Hunger Games series, Mockingjay, that is related to the binary opposition of the novel character.
From the analysis, the researcher finds that the character Katniss Everdeen has the aspects of hero and the opposite aspects of hero. By binary opposition analysis, Katniss Everdeen character is analyzed through her decision, aim, physical condition and action to find the aspects of a hero and the opposite aspects of hero.
