This research is entitled Politeness Principles on Youths at Karangtalun RT 04
R 03 Bobotsari Sub-district of Purbalingga Regency in May 2017; it aims to describe
the compliance and violation of politeness principles on youth at the village. This
research uses descriptive qualitative method of pragmatics approach. The data which
is presented covered speech acts containing compliance and violation of the language
politeness principle. Data source of this research is the youths in the village. This
research used conversations/utterances of the youths as the data. Furthermore, this
research is conducted in three stages. This first stage is data provision using
observational method of free participatory observation, recording, and taking note
techniques. The second stage is data analysis through identity method. The third stage
is the analysis result presentation which is informally presented through word
reflecting language politeness principles application. From 19 conversations taken in
May 2017, the results of politeness principles in youths communication at the village,
it shows that; there are 42 obedience of politeness principles consisting of the
obedience of 3 tact maxims, 9 generosity maxim, 10 approbation maxims, 3 modesty
maxims, 13 agreement maxims, and 4 sympathy maxims. Moreover, this research
found 19 parts violating the politeness principle; the violation of tact maxims, 1
generosity maxim, 7 approbation maxims, 5 modesty maxims, 4 agreement maxims.
