Abstract
The development of slow release urea (slow release) matrix type has the advantage of increasing N uptake, meeting N nutrient requirements, and improving soil fertility. In this study the organic material used to modify urea is carbon. Carbon has advantages that are environmentally friendly, have varying pores with large surface area and can be modified surface chemistry. In this study to improve the quality of urea adsorption on carbon has been carried out by modification with CPC surfactant assisted ultrasonic irradiation. In this study the quality of urea adsorption on carbon has been carried out by surfactant modification of activated carbon assisted ultrasonic irradiation. There are two aims of this study, mainly study of concentration effect on the quality of activated carbon and study of time irradiation on adsorption. The respons of this study are iodine number and urea adsorption capacity on carbon. Increased surfactant concentration significantly affects the quality of activated carbon and does not require additional process to be more efficient, does not require a long time. In the concentration range of research, the best quality result is activated carbon modified CPC surfactant at concentration 15 mmol/L that is the absorption power of iod 1048,477388000 mg / g with the adsorption capacity that is equal to 90,08 mg / g. Different results are shown on the effect of ultrasonic wave time. In the time range of ultrasonic waves, different results are shown on the influence of ultrasonic wave time. In the 8 minute time span that has the absorption power of iod 803.4550 mg/g with the adsorption capacity of 82.54 mg/g. The urea adsorption capacity of the surfactant-modified carbon is much greater (≈±185%) than the adsorption capacity of the unmodified carbon surfactant.
