Abstract

This research aims to describe the behavior disorder and defense mechanism of the main character in short story compilation entitled Bidadari yang Mengembara by A.S. Laksana. The object of this research are the behavior disorder and defense mechanisme of the main character in short story collection entitled Bidadari yang Mengembara by A.S. Laksana. Reading and writing techniques are used for collecting the data. The results shows that there are behavior disorder and defense mechanism of the main character in the short story compilation entitled Bidadari yang Mengembara by A.S. Laksana. The behavior disorder include, (1) unusual behaviors such as, (a) imagining unusual things, (b) over assuming, and (c) unusual longing, (2) socially unacceptablee behavior such as, (a) inapropiarte act, (b) inconvenient etc, (3) wrong perception or interpretation toward reality such as, (a) delusion, and (b) paranoid, and (4) significant personal stressed such as, (a) stressed becase of longing, and (b) stressed because of anxiety. Defense mechanism of the main character include, (1) denial of mistake, (2) repression such as, (a) resisting the threatening unconscious state of mind, (b) the offort to clam himself down, and (c) the offort to avoid vanity, (3) aggresion such as, (a) direct aggresion, and (b) indirect aggresion, and (4) fantasy such as, (a) presenting the figure he longed for, (b) denying reality, (c) trying to avoid anxiety, and (d) unusual imagination.
