Abstract

Kali Sapi River is one of the rivers in Banjarnegara Regency which has a
length of 35 km and a watershed area of 206.7 km2. On Sunday, 24th October
2010 Kali Sapi Bridge was collapse. The discharge of water at that time is 50.15
m3/s with rainfall reached 105 mm (PSDA Serayu Citanduy,2010). The aim of the
research was to determine the amount of the return period of flood (Q25, Q50, Q100)
and it’s relationship with Kali Sapi Bridge’s collapse. The return period of flood
analysis of this research used Haspers, Der Weduwen and Melchior Methods. The
result of the research shown that return period of floods analisys by Haspers
Method Q25 amount 237.597 m3/s, Q50 amount 260,055 m3/s and Q100 amount
282,347 m3/s. The method of Weduwen Q25 amount 274,520 m3/s, Q50 amount
300,468 m3/s and Q100 amount 326.225 m3/s. Melchior method Q25 amount
304,837 m3 / s, Q50 amount 333,651 m3 / s and Q100 amount 362,251 m3/s. Based
on the life time of the bridge, it was known that the life time of Kali Sapi Bridge
is 50 years, with it’s lowest return period of floods amount 260,055 m3/s so that, it
was higher than it’s (50,15 m3/s). Thus, the discharge during the collapse was not
the major factor that caused the collapse of Kali Sapi Bridge.
