Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of video to teach narrative. This research was conducted at SMA MuhammadiyahGombong in academic year 2011/2012. This research used experimental method. The totals of population were 160 respondents. The total samples were 53 respondents. The respondents were divided into control class and experimental class. In collecting data, the writer used test as instrument. The test was administrated twice. The first was pre-test, and the second was post-test. The form of the test was multiple choice tests. After getting the data, this research used t-test computation to analyze the data. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the result of t-test was 7.871, while the t-table score = 2.076 at the significance level , for d.f. 51 (29 + 24 – 2), so the t-test result was higher than t-table score(7.871>2.076). It means that the hypothesis which stated video as a media is effective to teach narrative at eleventh grade students of SMA MuhammadiyahGombong in academic year 2011/2012.
