The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Photo cards to teach vocabulary. This research was conducted at SDN 01 Gadungrejo and SDN 03 Jerukagung, Klirong, Kebumen in academic year 2011/2012. The total sample of this research was 60 respondents. The respondents were divided into two groups: the control class and experimental one. The treatment was given for the experimental class. In collecting the data, the writer used test; fill the blank and matching. The pretest was given before giving the treatment and posttest was given after giving the treatment.
The result of t-test was 8, 79 and the result of t-table with degree of freedom 58 was 2.003. Then, the writer consulted the result of t-obtained with t-test and it was higher than t-table (8.79>2.003). It means photo cards was effective for teaching vocabulary.
