Abstract
The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Personal Vocabulary Notes (PVN) for Teaching Students’ Vocabulary. This research was conducted at SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang in academic year 2011/ 2012. The treatment of this research was carried out in 15th until 25th of February 2012. The total sample of this research was 80 respondents. The respondents were divided into control class and experimental class. The technique of collecting the data used tests. Those were pre-test and post-test. The test was given for control class and experimental class. Based on the result of data analysis, it was found that the result of t-test was 3.681, while the t-table score at the significant level α= 0,05 for df (degree of freedom)= 78 was 1.665. Thus, the t-test value was higher than t-table (3.681>1.665). It means that the hypothesis which stated that Personal Vocabulary Notes PVN tehnique was effective to teach vocabulary at seventh grade students of SMP Muhammadiyah Sumbang in academic year 2011/2012 was accepted.
