The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of demonstration
technique for teaching writing of procedure text at the seventh grade students of SMP
Negeri 2 Sokaraja in academic year 2013/2014.
This research used quasi experimental method. There were 68 students
involved the research which were divided into two classes. Class VII B was chosen as
control class and VII D was chosen as experimental class. The technique of collecting
data used test. Those were pre-test and post-test. Pre-test was given before the
treatment and post-test was given after the treatment.
The data calculation showed that there was a positive impact of teaching
writing of procedure text. It can be seen from the mean of score result of
experimental class which increased to 11.35, while that of the control class was 8.58.
Based on the result, it was found that t-test computation was higher than t-table. The
t-test computation was 2.513 and t-table for
df
= 66 at the level of significance

=0.05 was 1.668. From the previous calculation, the t-test was higher than t-table
(2.513>1.66

that

grade students

SMP Negeri 2 Sokaraja.
