The aim of this research was to know how good the students of SMPN I
Kalibagor vocabulary competence in operating computer program. This research
used descriptive method. The writer determined the second grade students of
SMPN I Kalibagor as population. There were six classes of second grade of
SMPN I Kalibagor. Each class was composed of 40 students, so the total
population was 240 students. The writer took 20% of population as a sample by
taking random sampling technique. The total sample was 48 students.
After conducting the research, it was revealed that the average of students’
vocabulary competence in operating computer at the second grade of SMPN I
Kalibagor in Academic year 2009/ 2010 was 79. 3 %. It meant that it was
categorized in good category. It could be seen that 43. 75 % students categorized
as “very good category”, 54. 17 % “good category” and 2. 08% “fair category”
