Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Practice Rehearsal Pairs for teaching speaking at the second grade of SMA Muhammadiyah I Purwokerto in academic years 2011/2012. The research used a quasi experimental. It was carried out from 10 to 24 of May 2012.The population of this research was the second grade of SMA Muhammadiyah I Purwokerto, there were two classes as the sample namely: XI IS 2 as experimental class and XI IS 4 as control class. Speaking test was used to collect the data and in analyzing the data the writer used T-test. Having analyzed the data, it was concluded that Practice Rehearsal Pairs was effective for teaching speaking. It was supported by T-test computation, where T-test was 7.61 and it was higher than t-table (2.0167).So Practice Rehearsal Pairs is effective for teaching speaking.
