Abstract

The research was conducted to examine the effectiveness of Face to Face Peer Review (FFPR) in teaching writing. The population of the research was all of the students on the 1st grade students of SMA N Pagerbarang. The total of the population was 148 students. The random sampling was used to take the sample of the research. There were two classes as research participants. Class X2 as the control class and class X4 as the experimental class. The research was conducted from May 6 to 23, 2013. There was treatment in the experimental class that was taught by using Face to Face Peer Review (FFPR). On the other hand, the teaching writing in the control class used a conventional way or without any treatment. Pre-test was given to know the early competence of the participants in the writing skill. There was post-test after the treatment was given. The result of t-test calculation was 3.471 while t-table value at the level of significance α = 0.05 for degree of freedom (df) = 44 was 1.680. It meant that t-test was higher than t-table (3.471 > 1.680). Based on the previous description, it could be concluded that Face to Face Peer Review (FFPR) was effective for teaching writing.
