Abstract

The aims of this research were to find out the level of students’ mastery and the errors they made in using noun clause at the sixth semester students of English Education Departmment in Muhammadiyah University of Purwokerto. This research was descriptive study. The Population of the research was 104 students of the sixth semester students. The researcher took 26 students or 25% of the population randomly as the sample. The data was collected through a test, and for analyzing data, the researcher used descriptive statistics. After the data was analyzed, it was found that the result of the students’ mastery was 82.7% or it can be said the students’ mastery in using noun clause belonged to very good category. As to the error, it was found that the grammatical errors made by students in noun clause were omission (45.45%) in which the students omitted words which is supposed to exist in the sentence, misformation (32.95%) in which they used put wrong word in the sentence, and addition (21.59%) where the students added a word which was not supposed to exist in the sentence.
