Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out whether the Word Wall Activities were effective or not in teaching reading. The study was conducted from 3rd until 12th of April 2013 at SMP N 1 Karanglewas. The method which was used in the research was experimental research. This experimental research involved two groups: experimental group and control group in which each group consisted of 32 students. In collecting the data, pre-test and pot-test were used. Then, the tests were analyzed by using t-test to find out whether the word wall activities were effective or not in teaching reading. The result of the data analysis of t-test showed that the t-value was higher than that on t-table (3.97>1.67). It revealed that there was a positive effect of word wall activities in teaching reading. Thus, it was concluded that teaching reading using word wall activities was effective.
