Abstract
Rice plant as a primary staple food of Indonesia needs to increase from year to year. Currently, rice processing byproducts and wastes not fully utilized. Husk is a byproduct when the rice milling process and produce quite a lot of waste, which amounted to 20% of the weight of the grain. Increasing the the economic value of waste rice can be done by utilizing silica from rice husk ash, silica can be isolated from rice husk is simply by burning. The aims of this research were to determined the extraction of rice husk ash silica using NaOH solvent and the effect of heating temperature, heating time and alkali concentration to yield a silica. Design of this research was using factorial design with two levels and three variable: the heating temperature, heating time and concentration of alkaline with the number of trials is 23 = 8 times to repeat 2 times. The results of this research was indicate the heating temperature and heating time used did not significant the yield of the resulting silica, the significant is the concentration of NaOH used were 0.5 and 1 N. Based on the results obtained by XRD analysis of the percentage weight of the compound in the sample 1 (yield silica) is Fe2SiV compound which amount to 76.9% and sample 2 (rice husk ash) is a Silicon Iron compounds FeSi2 which amount 33.9%.
