Background : Health of pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers to be a
necessary condition for the development of the fetus and baby. Use of the drug in
pregnant women and lactating mothers need special attention due to pregnancy
and breastfeeding are prone to a disease. Some medications proven teratogenic
effects on pregnant women and adverse effects in breastfeeding mothers.
Pharmacists are one of the health workers who can provide information and
education about drugs. Based on these premises, and then to do research the
knowledge level evaluation research pharmacist, pregnant women, and
breastfeeding mothers to use drugs in the District of Brebes.
Research objective : This study aimed to evaluate the level of knowledge of the
use of the drug in pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers in the District of
Brebes, describe the level of knowledge of pharmacists to drug use during
pregnancy and lactation in the District of Brebes.
Research methods : The observational study with a analytic descriptive cross
sectional method, which is sourced from the questionnaires to pharmacists,
pregnant mothers, and breastfeeding mothers on the use of drugs in the District of
Brebes. Perspective to determine the level of knowledge is a pharmacist
perspective, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers with operational
variables pharmacist, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, pharmacy services,
dispensing, drug use, swamedikasi, availability of information, knowledge.
Result and Conclusion : The level knowledge pharmacist about drug use in the
District of Brebes largely categorized quite at 39 (76.5%) and 3 (5.9%) were
included in the less knowledge. The level knowledge of pregnant women about
the use of drugs in the Bradford district have sufficient knowledge of most of the
180 (64.5%) and who had low knowledge only 54 (19.4%). The level knowledge
about the use of drugs in breastfeeding mothersin the District of Brebes mostly
have enough knowledge that 217 (77.8%) and 27 (19.7%) who had low
knowledge. The level of knowledge pharmacist pregnant women and
breastfeeding mothers on the use of drugs in the District of Brebes shows mostly
included in the category of sufficient. In this research, the education of pregnant
women and breastfeeding mothers have a relationship to knowledge.
