Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia.
Based on the research, some plants are efficacious as anti-hyperglycemia that
soursop leaf and the leaf extract of starfruit. This study aims to determine the
effect of ethanol extract anti-hyperglycemia combination soursop leaf and starfruit
and increasing effect of ethanol extract anti-hyperglycemia combination soursop
leaf and leaf starfruit compared with the single use of soursop leaf and the leaf
extract of starfruit on white mice induced by alloxan. The method used in this
study was experimental with pre and post test design group design. This study
used alloxan induction, was performed using 24 male wistar strain rats divided
into 6 groups. Group I as normal control (Na CMC), as a negative control group
II, group III as a positive control given glibenclamide dose of 0.6 mg / kg, given
IV group soursop leaf extract single dose of 100 mg / kg, group V given star fruit
extract dose of 125 mg / kg and group VI given a combination of soursop leaf
extract and starfruit dose of 100 mg / kg + 125 mg / kg. The results showed the
combination of the ethanol extract of soursop leaf and starfruit have antihyperglycemia
effect on alloxan-induced white rats, but did not increase antihyperglycemia
effect compared with the single use of each component of the
extracts.
