Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the effectiveness of Elf Card for teaching vocabulary at seventh grade of junior high school. This research was conducted from April 23th, 2014 until May 18th, 2014 in SMP N 1 Purwareja Klampok in academic year 2013/2014. The method used quasi experimental research. This experimental research involved two groups: experimental group and control group in which each group consisted of 36 students. The population was seventh grade students in that school. Sampling was done by purposive sampling technique. The instrument of collecting the data was test. The test was done twice, they were pretest and post-test. The type of the test was multiple choices. T-test formula was used to analyze the data. Based on the computation, t-test result was 3.915 and ttable was 1.667 at the significant level 0.05 with the degree of freedom 70. It showed that t-result was higher than t-table (3.915 >1.667). Based on the research result, it can be concluded that Elf Card was effective for teaching vocabulary at the seventh grade of the junior high school.
