Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of snake and ladder puzzle to reinforce students’ vocabulary mastery. This research was conducted at the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Padamara in academic year 2011/2012. Treatment was carried out in February 2012. The total sample of this research was 58 respondents. The respondents were divided into two groups; those were experiment class and control class. The treatment was given to the experiment class. In collecting data, the writer used test in the form of multiple choice. The writer conducted pre-test before giving the treatment and post-test after giving the treatment. Based on the result, it was concluded that snake and ladder puzzle was effective for reinforcing students’ vocabulary mastery. It could be proved by the result of t-value, it was 3.69. The writer consulted the critical value of t-table with the significant level 5% and the degree fredom 56. The t-table was 2.00. It means that reinforcing vocabulary using snake and ladder puzzle was effective because tvalue was higher than t-table (3.69>2.00).
