Abstract

The research aimed to compare the ability of junior high school students in
answering mathematics problem between students who had joined SAVI learning
with students who joined direct learning. Pretest and posttest were carried out in
this experimental research. The population of this research were VII grader in
SMP N 3 Purwokerto. Cluster VII D is subjected to the experiment class which
was using SAVI and VII F became control class which used direct learning,
meanwhile VII A becomes screening test as the posttest instrument. Independent
sample t-test is used as the method of hypothesis testing. The result of posttest
analysis shows that means the there is differentiation of ability to solve
the mathematics problem between students who had joined SAVI learning with the
students who joined the direct learning. Its known by the t-test result from right
side acquired sig. (1-tiled) = 0,046 with so H0 is rejected and Ha is
accepted. The conclussion of this research is that, the students who had joined
SAVI learning got higher qualification in solving mathematics problem than
student who had joined direct learning.
