Abstract

The researcher conducted the study to examine the effectiveness of rally coach strategy to teach recount text writing. The population of the study were all of eighth grade students of SMP Ma'arif NU 1 Cilongok. The number of the students were 198. The research was examined at first semester of eighth grade students in academic year 2014/2015. The study used quantitative method to examine the hypothesis. The study used random sampling to take sample. There were two classes as research participants, VIII E as experimental class and VIII A as control class. The data was obtained at 4th October to 18th october, 2014. Both classes were given pre-test and post-test, the treatment for experimental class was given after pre-test, and another treatment was used for control class. The result of t-test calculation was 4,7 while t-table value at the level of significance α = 0.05 for degree of freedom (df) = 65 was 1,67. It means that t-test was higher than t-table ( 4,7> 1.699). Based on the previous explanation, it could be concluded that rally coach strategy was effective to teach recount text writing.
