Abstract

The aim of the research aimed at finding out the effectiveness of using English
songs in teaching English pronunciation. This research used quasi experimental
research. Random smpling technique was used for selecting the sample. The
respondents were the seventh grade students in one of Junior High School in
Banyumas where VII E as control class and VII G as experimental class. Each
class consisted of 32 students. In the collecting data, this research used test i.e.
pre-test and post-test. It used t-test and inter-rater reliability as a tool to analyze
the data. The result from experimental class was 2.227 and it was higher than ttable
at p<0.05 for df 62 (1.6698). Each aspect of pronunciation was showed the
significant difference, such as consonant, vowel, stress, intonation and syllable. It
could be seen that English songs as media was effective for teaching English
pronunciation.
