Based on the recent facts, the patriotism of Indonesia people especially for the young generations have been eroded. For example, many student join flag ceremony inorderly. They also do not know well their national anthem. They like being absence in school, doing some violences, and not obeying school’s rules. Therefore, this research was held in order to know the role of studying civics education in forming the students’ patriotism in SMP Negeri 3 Kalibagor. The research was aimed at knowing the role of studying civics education in forming the students’ patriotism, the handicaps faced in learning civics education in forming students’ patriotism, the efforts done informing students’ patriotism. Descriptive method was used in this research. The qualitative approach was applied in this research. The data was collected by doing interview, doing observation, documentation, and study literature. The data was analyzed by using data reduction, presentasi of data, and conclution. The result of research showed the learning of civics education has the role in forming the patriotism. The patriotism is in the form of some attitudes like sacrifice, courage, devotion to the nation, unity, respect, cooperation. The use of learning source, method, several learning media, and learning tools also supported in this class.
