Abstract

One of diseases that often occurred in bream including Nila fish was MAS (Motile Aeromonas Septicemia) that was caused by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. Antibiotic giving from synthetic material that was done by the farmers had negative impact toward the quality of environment, consumer’s health, and the risk of resistant effect towards the bacteria if it was used continuously. Thus, it was needed natural subtances as the alternative way to replace synthetic antibiotic. One of those was patikan kebo leaf (E. hirta L.) This research aimed to know the effectiveness of patikan kebo leaf (E. hirta L.) extract and to know the most effective concentration of patikan kebo leaf (E. hirta L.) extract to recover Nila fish (O. niloticus) that was infected by Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria. This research was experimental research of comprehensive random design. The steps were concentration variation of patikan kebo leaf extract : control - , control + (chloramphenicol), P1 : 0,5%, P2 : 1 %, P3 : 1,5%. The fish were tested first through soaking method. The process of recovery was observed for 15 days and started a day after the treatment. The primary parameters that were observed were the progress of symptoms, recovery process, and survival rate. The supporting parameters were temperature, pH, and O2 soluble. The data of survival rate was analyzed through analysis of variance (ANAVA) of F- test. If there was real difference, it was continued by further test of Duncen Multiple Range Test (DMRT) in the reliance level of 95%, and other data was analyzed through descriptive analysis. The results of analysis showed that the symptoms of recover in the 10th-12th day after the treatment, this was marked by the increase of appetite, the active move, the ulcer or pain on the fish became smaller. The result analysis of survival rate data showed that the treatment of soaking with patikan kebo leaf extract affected towards the value of survival rate. The most effective concentration of this research was P2 (1%) with the value of survival rate was 66.67 %.
