This research titled A Study of Method of Topic Development in Argumentative
Discourses in “Gaul Ilmiah” Column (Gaul Tabloid, 20th-29th Edition, 2012). This
research aim to describe the topic advance method that exists in Gaul Ilmiah rubric
20th -29th edition.
This research is a qualitative descriptive research. The information of this
research is an argumentation discussion that contains in Gaul Ilmiah rubric 20th -29th
edition. The information collecting procedure for this research is done by using
observation method and extract method with a consequence technique (Teknik Simak
Bebas Libat Cakap / SBLC), and note technique. The information analysis phase done
by using matching method with basic technique such Pilah Unsur Penentu technique
(PUP). The analysis result in this research is serves with informal method, a
formulation by using basic words, although with a technical terminology.
The result of this research shows that there is a varying topic advance method.
Some of them are genus and definition method, contradiction method, ratio method,
analogy method, cause and impact method, impact and cause method, generalization
method, circumstance method, authority and testimony method. This is based on the
readers understanding and feed back from the message they delivered to the
discussion.
