Abstract

This research was to improve students’ vocabulary mastery by using Scrabble game. The objective of this research was to improve students’ vocabulary mastery of the 1st grade student s in Mts Muhammadiyah Purwokerto by using scrabble game. The participant of this research were 21 students in 7A class. This research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. In collecting data, test as the quantitative data, and also observation and questionnaire as qualitative data were used. The result of the research could be seen from students’ observation in cycle 1 was 61.75% and in cycle 2 was 70.87%. Whereas, the percentage score post-test 1 was 66.60% and in post test 2 was 85.71% students’ vocabulary test result, the score percentage reached as the KKM, and the learning completeness reached 85% as the successful learning target. Futher, from the questionnaire, 91.88% students gave positive answer of the question given. Based on the result of the research it could be conducted that the use of scrabble game could improve students’ vocabulary.
