The main objective of the research was to enhance the reading comprehension of second grade students in VIII B at SMP Negeri 2 Karanglewas using Index Card Match. The participants of this research were 30 students of second grade in VIII B class at SMP Negeri 2 Karanglewas. This action research was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, evaluating, and reflecting. In collecting data, reading test as the quantitative data also observation and questionnaire as qualitative data were used. To support the qualitative data, interview to the students was conducted to know the students’ reading problems. The results of the research could be seen from the students observation sheets that in cycle 1 at 50 % which belong to enough criteria and in cycle 2 at 81 % which belong to very good criteria; the score average in post test 1 was 64.5 and in cycle 2 was 75.4; the learning completeness in cycle 1 was 70 % and in cycle 2 was 86.67 %. Further, from the questionnaire sheet, 83.88 % students gave positive response to the implementation of Index Card Match during the teaching learning process. Based on the results of the research it could be concluded that the use of Index Card Match could enhance students’ reading comprehension.
