This study entitled "Social Criticism in Putu Wijaya's Monologue Manuscript".
The purpose of this study was to describe social criticism in Putu Wijaya's monologue
manuscript. This study was a qualitative research. The data in this study were texts
containing social criticism in Putu Wijaya's monologue manuscript. The data source
of this study was in the form of a monologue manuscript of Putu Wijaya's Trik. The
approach used in this study was socioanalytic literary criticism. The method used in
this research was descriptive analysis. Based on the result of the research related to
social criticism in Putu Wijaya's monologue manuscript, it can be concluded that
social criticism appearing in manuscript are: first, social criticism against the
government describing the condition of the current government' bad performance in
public service, law enforcement and the depravity of Indonesian. Second, social
criticism related to power describing how power is a requirement for someone to be
able to control other parties. Third, social criticism related to Human Rights
describing that human right violations occurre in society.
