Abstract

The aim of this research was to find out the effectiveness of Scrabble game to teach vocabulary. This research was conducted at SMA AL Irsyad Cilacap in academic year 2012/ 2013 on May 2013. There were 56 students involved the research which were divided into two classes; control class and experimental class. The technique that was used for collecting data was test. Those were pre-test and post-test. Pre test was given before the treatment, and post test given after the treatment. The result of t-test was 2.32, and the result of t-table with degree of freedom 54 was 1.673. Then, the researcher consulted the result of t-obtain with t-test, and it was higher than t-table (2.32> 1.673). It means that the hypothesis which stated that Scrabble Game Tehnique was Effective to Teach Vocabulary at eleventh grade students of SMA AL Irsyad Cilacap in academic year of 2012/2013 was accepted.
