Abstract

This research was aimed at improving the students’ understanding of integrated social sclence by implementing scientific approach in grade VII C at SMP Negeri 2 Watukumpul.The number of the students in the class was 40. This research involved planning, acting, observing, and reflecting stages. The primary data in this research was in a from of daily test score, and the secondary data was by observation. The data were then analyzed using comparative descriptive to compare the pre-test and post-test score. The result of the research showed that the student’ understanding in the learning process on subthema C “ the citzen’s mobility over area in indonesia and its facilites” obtained score ≥ minimum standard 70. In the initial condition, only 16 students or 40 % passed the minimum standard score with the average of 63.75. in the first cycle, 24 students or 60 % Passed the minimum standard score with the average of 68.00, and in the second cycle, 34 students or 85 % passed the minimum standard score with the average of 76.28. The result showed that the Implementation of saintific approach in PAKEM learning model could improve the students’ understanding of integrated social science, and it was even 5 % higher than the predetermined success creteria of 80 %
