Abstract

Aspirin compound can be isolated from branded tablet using extraction method
and column chromatography. This research was aimed at identifying a better
method between the extraction and the chromatography to isolate the pure aspirin
compound from the branded tablets, and at finding out the purity level of the
aspirin compund in them. The analyis was conudcted through a qualitative test,
Thin Layer Chromatography, spectrophotometries of UV-Vis, LC-MS, and 1H
NMR. The extraction over the aspirin compound produces a redement of 0.65 g,
but the column chromatography fails to result in any. The qualitative test over
aspirin indicates a positive result as shown from the change of the purple color
after added with FeCl3. Thr result of UV-Vis spectrophotometry over the result of
extraction gives a maximum wave lenght of 273 nm, and the column
chromatography leaves a wave lenght of 276 nm. The spectrum result of LC-MS
on the isolate of extraction method shows an amplitude at the minute of 6.970,
and the MS spectrum has its peak of 179 m/z and 137 m/z, and its purity of
23.866%. Meanwhile the isolate of chromatography method reaches its peak at a
minute of 5.968 and of 6.992, its MS scpectrum gets its peak at 178 m/z, and 137
m/z and its purity is 83.295%. The 1HNMR test over the aspirin compound from
the extraction indicates a shift of 2.270 ppm, , 7.135 ppm, 7.341 ppm, 7.594 ppm,
and 8.017 ppm.
