Abstract

This research conducted to reveal the happiness concept of Victorian
society as it is reflected in Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride. The research object
is Corpse Bride movie that released in 2005. The major characters who
become the object of the research are: women characters (Victoria and
Emily), Victor’s parents (William and Neil Van Dort) and Victoria’s parents
(Finis and Maudeline Everglot).
To find the answers, the writer apply the first perspective of sociology
theory by Alan Swingewood. In analyzing this study, the writer uses
qualitative descriptive. The data taken is the movie screenshoots that
related to the happiness concept of the movie characters.
From the analysis, the writer concludes that the happiness concept from
the unmarried women characters are about true love, peacefulness and
seeing other woman happy. While the parents tend to think about their
happiness due to the perspective. They think that happiness is about
getting rich and being aristocrat, the highest level of the society class.
