Abstract

This research was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of eco-composition for teaching writing descriptive text at the eighth grade of one Junior High Schools in Banyumas in academic year 2014/2015. This research used quasi experimental reasearch. The participants of this research were the students in one of Junior High Schools in Banyumas. The two classes were chosen as the experimental and control class. To achieve the goal, pre-test and post-test were used to get the data. The test was in the form of structured essay test. The t-test formula and interrater were used to analyze the data. The result of the research showed that there was a significant difference after the treatment of using ecocomposition. The t-test result was 3.994 while the t-table with the significant level 0.05 in d.f 58 was 1.6715. The result was higher than t-table (3.994 > 1.6715). Moreover, there were a kind of good point for some aspects of writing namely content, language use as well as the writing mechanics gained by the students in this research. In conclusion, the hypothesis of this research was accepted that ecocomposition was effective to teach writing especially in certain aspects namely content, language use and writing mechanics.
