Abstract
This research was aimed to investigate the effectiveness of
Experiential
Learning Strategy to
teach writing
descriptive
text at the eight
h grade students
of SMP Negeri 3
Belik
in academic year 2015/ 2016
. This research used quasi
experimental research. The participants of this research were the eight
h grade
student
s in SMP Negeri 3
Belik
. The two classes were chos
en as the
experimental (VIII A) class
consisting of thirty stu
dents, and control class (VIII
D) consisting of thirty students. The technique of data collection used test
,
namely

- test and post
- test. B
ased on the analysis of data,
it showed that the
mean score of pre
- test in experimental class was 50.4 and the mean score of
post
-test was 70.4
. Meanwhile, t
he mean score of control class was 51.2 and the
mean score of post
