Abstract

teaching speaking of procedure text at the first grade students of MA Al Hidayah Purworejo Klampok in academic year 2011/2012. The research was conducted from August until December 2011 and the treatment was given from 10th until 23rd September 2011. The research was carried out using experiment research method. Then the total subject of the research was fifty two students. The research used two kinds of test; pre-test and post-test. The writer used two classes as a subject of the research: control and experiment classes. Both of classes were given pre-test, treatment and post-test, but only experiment class which was given treatments by using demonstration technique. The writer conducted pre-test before giving treatment and post-test after giving treatment to the experiment class and the control class. Based on the result it was concluded that demonstration technique was effective for teaching speaking of procedure text. It could be seen from students’ speaking ability of experiment class. It was compared with control class was increasing from 2.88 % - 4.96%. It could also be proved by the result of t-test, which was 2.4213 and the value of t-table with degree of freedom 50 was 1.676.Then, the writer consulted that the result was obtained with the t-test and it was higher than t-table (2.4213 >1.676). So, the writer concluded that the hypothesis of this research in which the demonstration technique was effective for teaching speaking of procedure text at the first grade students of MA Al Hidayah Purworejo Klampok was accepted.
