Abstract

The aim of the research was to find out whether News article was effective
or not for teaching relative clause to second grade students of MAN I Purwokerto
in academic year 2011/2012.
The research was conducted at MAN I Purwokerto with 44 students of the
second year students in academic year 2011/2012 as the sample of the research. It
was done on November 5th, 2011 until November 17th, 2011. The researcher used
an experiment as the method of the research.
The data was collected with the test. Based on the analysis data, it was
found that t-test score was 3.0996, while the t table score as significant level of
0.05 for df 42 was 1.6819. Thus the t-test was higher than t-table
(3.0996>1.6819) and it could be concluded that the hypothesis that news article
of Jakarta Post for teaching relative clause at MAN I Purwokerto was effective
was accepted.
