This research is aimed to study the cause of infant mortality level in Desa
Kotayasa, Kecamatan Sumbang, Kabupaten Banyumas in 2016.
This research is descriptive qualitative study with survey. The population
in this research is mothers who has 12 infant deaths. The technique of data
collection was using interview. The obtained data were then analyzed in the form
of qualitative description by using table of frequency and percentage.
The result of the research show that the causes of infant mortality are: the
age of the mother who is susceptible to get pregnant (75%), the lack of good
health service (58.8%), the people’s habit not to have antenatal since the early
period of pregnancy (58.8%), family income under minimum regional wage
(UMR) (58.4%), and the level of education (41.8%).
