This research aimed at describing students’ error in solving combinastion problem
viewed from their way of thinking. The research was a descriptive qualitative
research. The research subject was class XI MIPA 1 SMA Negeri 1 Purbalingga.
The research subject was selected by using cluster sampling. This researsch took 3
respondents from convergent way of thingking and 3 respondents from divergent
way of thinking. The respondents were selescted based on the errors done by them.
The data collection used way of thingking test, combination problem test, and an
interview. The interview was done in order to deepen the data description. The
described-data was students’ error in solving combination problem viewed from
convergent and divergent way of thinking. The research result showed that the
students with convergent way of thinking did principle error, fact error, and undone
error. The students with divergent way of thinking did principle error, fact error,
incomplete error, and undone error. The divergent thinking students did less errors
than convergent thinking students.
