Abstract

This research was aimed to describe the imperative pragmatic form of the talk show named “Mamah dan Aa Beraksi”. It was a descriptive qualitative research. The research data were the speech of figures on the talk show which was broadcasted in every Monday-Saturday, at 06.00-07.30 am. Data resource of this research was the speech on the talk show. The researcher analyzed five episodes of the talk show which were broadcasted on January 9th, 10th, 15th, 24th, and 25th 2014. It passed 3 research phases which were data provision, data analysis, and presentation of research result. In the first phase, the researcher used listening (simak) method, and basic technique used was tapping (sadap) technique. Advanced technique used was simak bebas libat cakap. In the data analysis phase, she used agih method and pragmatic equality (padan pragmatis) as well. And in the phase of research result presentation, she used informal method. The research resulted as follows; there were 15 imperative pragmatic forms on these 5 episodes of the talk show taken from 350 data. It showed that the figures on the talk show used many speeches containing imperative pragmatic forms with various politeness signs to smoothen the standard of imperative speech. There were also two imperative pragmatic form which were not found in the talk show, which were speeches containing imperative pragmatic meaning of persuasion and speeches containing imperative pragmatic meaning of curse. It was because these two kinds of pragmatic forms are not use in kinds of formal programs. They are used in daily speeches.
