This research aimed at describing types of political language idioms on
“Wacana&rdquo: rubric in Suara Merdeka Newspaper, January-March 2017
Edition. The method in this research covered the type of research, data and data
source, and method and research technique. This is a descriptive qualitative research.
The data in this research were political language idioms. The data source of this
research was “wacana&rdquo: rubric in Suara Merdeka Newspaper January-
March 2017 Edition. This research was done through three steps; those were data
provisioning, data analysis, data display. Data provisioning step used library method.
Data analysis step used distributional method and referential method with basic
technique of immediate constituent analysis and determinant sorting technique and
then continued with correlation of the equalizing technique. The steps of data display
used informal method with common words. The results showed that the types of idiom
based on name were mentioning some of assumptions, mentioning based on prominent
nature, and mentioning based on similarity. The kind of political language idioms
from language structures were: expression and proverb. In proverb, there were
proverb and parable. The kind of political language idioms from meaning relation
with idiomatic element were: full idiom and partial idiom. The kind of political
language idioms from the source of idioms were: parts of body, name of colors,
natural objects, name of animals, parts of plant, numbers, human's activity, someone's
state, the shape of objects, and people.
