Abstract
Paving Block is widely used in contruction sector and it is one of the
alternatives for surface pavement (overlay). Since its ease of installation, cheap
maintenance and aesthetical aspect create paving block highly desirable. Generally
paving block is udes for road pavement, pedestrian and sidewalks. This thesis aimed
to discover the compressive strength of paving block with stone dust as additional
mixture, in terms of water absorption, and compressive strength, and the best
structure of three compositions. The study applied three mixed compositions and 1
control composition. The research stages were: planning model and compositions
of (1Pc: 8Ps: 10% AB, 1Pc: 8Ps: 20% AB, 1Pc: 8Ps: 30% AB, and 1Pc: 8Ps as
control). Data analysis technique applied was SNI (Indonesia National Standard)
provision on 03-0691-1996. The average results of the test obtained data as follows:
a). The number of water absorption for each composition was 29,9%, 28,4% and
18,8%, respectively, and composition which fulfill the quality requirement was
composition D, b). The average compressive strength for each sequential
composition was 19,20 kg/cm2, 15,56 kg/cm2, and 32,75 kg/cm2. Each composition
met to the qualityy requirements of SNI 03-0691-1996 with the absorption of quality
water D, the compressive strength of quality A.
