Abstract
The residential area in Pakujati Village, Paguyangan Sub-District of Brebes is close to the poultry farms so that the water source lies near the farming area. Therefore, it is possible for the wells used by the people to be contaminated with chicken manure. The purpose of this research was to determine the water ground quality around the poultry farms as a drinking water in Pakujati Village, Paguyangan Sub-District of Brebes regency. The research used survey method. The research population is groundwater located in the poultry farms. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, i.e. determining the sample through specific criteria set by the researcher. The samples were six wells by considering the direction of rivers flow, i.e. three wells located in less than 10 metres from the farm, two wells located in more than 10 metres from the farm, and one well located in more than 50 metres from the farm. The data were processed using laboratory test to obtain set variable values. They were analyzed through descriptive qualitative analysis by matching the laboratory result with the indicators stated in Health Minister Regulation Number 492/MENKES/PER/IV/2010 on drinking water quality requirements.
The result revealed that the tested six water ground samples are not qualified to be used as a drinking water seeing from the indicator of E.Coli bacteria contents which are more than 2,400 ml. The amount has exceeded the set threshold of 0 mg/l.
