Abstract
This study was aimed at finding out the coverage of cognitive levels of English National Examination in 2015 and 2016 in Junior and Senior High School, the dominant of cognitive level of Bloom’s taxonomy in English National Examination in Junior High School and Senior High School, the significant differences level between the cognitive level in both Junior and Senior High School English National Examination. This study employed content analysis as a method of the research. The researcher used documentary technique in collecting the data. After all of the data had been collected, then it was analysed. Based on the data analysis, it was found that the coverage of cognitive levels in English National Examination were remembering, understanding, applying, and analysing. English National Examination in Junior High School has fulfilled the criteria of cognitive level in Bloom’s Taxonomy from understanding until analysing. And English National Examination in Senior High School has not fulfilled the criteria of cognitive levels in Bloom’s Taxonomy only four of six levels that are covered from remembering until analysing. Then, the dominant of cognitive level of Bloom’s taxonomy in English National Examination in Junior High School was remembering with the percentage 38%. And then, in Senior High School was in level understanding with the percentage 47%. The significant differences level was discovered that there is a significant difference cognitive level between English National Examination Junior and Senior High School. The results were showed 2 count ≥ 2 table or 25.136 ≥ 9.49
