Indonesia is one of 17 megabiodiversity countries, nowadays it’s only 300
species that have been used by traditional pharmaceutical industries. This
research aimed to obtain informations about species, indication and usage,
method of preparation and Species Use Value (SUV) for medicinal plant in
Baturraden and Sumbang. This study is descriptive survey research with semistructured
interviews of 97 informants, conducted on January-March 2017. Data
were qualitatively analysed by interpreting the interview transcript and
quantitatively to calculate SUV of those medicinal plants. The result showed that
in Baturraden, there were 59 medicinal plant species with 120 usages for 40
indications and boiling as the most used method of preparation. In Sumbang there
were 90 medicinal plant species with 197 usages for 60 indications and boiling as
the most used method of preparation. Turmeric is the most used medicinal plant at
Baturraden and Sumbang, with SUVs were 0.527 and 0.688, respectively.
