Abstract

The aim of the study were to investigate the preference on teachers’
written feedback, the kinds of feedback that the students’ prefer the most, and the
students’ reason in choosing the type of feedback which they prefer the most. The
subjects of this study were 96 students of the fourth semester students of English
Education Departmentof University Muhammadiyah of Purwokerto in academic
year 2016/2017.This study used a descriptive survey. In collecting the data the
researcher used questionnaire and interview. Which were analysed quantitatively
and qualitatively. The result of the study showed that the students preferred all of
the feedback, but they mostly preferred direct feedback (82.94%). The result of
interview showed that the students mostly preferred direct feedback because of
some reasons; those are: 1) it helpsthemto revise the mistake so they will always
remember and would not do the same mistake again. 2) it helpsthe students to find
out the mistakes, especially in producing wrong words.
